Third Place

Trying to bring elements of the craigslist and into physically using ice to create figures bringing back the text. Trying to describe the relationship between the physical and the virtual and how the transfer is incomplete and a design to destroy itself. All this closed in within ‘missed connections’. A fantasy created within the virtual of meeting – a wish fulfillment something more than data that exists is then deleted, but needing it fragmented.

Nancy showed a video entitled “Navigating the Third Place”
The internet is ‘becoming’ a third place. It is a 1950′s-style instructional video.

Critiques:
Neil Jones: Only danger is that it would be a ‘funny-or-die’ video.

Timothy Druckrey: Internet as an addiction with social circumstances.

Instructional videos were needed to institutionalize a social class.
Actual 12-step technology addiction program.
Pharmaceutical companies pushing conditions that are seemingly abnormal compared to the flux of the human biology.
