Installations

March 30th, 2010

3-Installations all at ground level. One of an endless looping helicopter floating in the sky. Another, a plastic garbage shrine, and a final one of a television monitor with (.gif) faces / eyes of different colors blinking out-of-sync with a continuation of a sleeping bag with a cartoon dead-body.

Helicopter installation:
Feeling of being trapped where the helicopter is never able to leave the screen. (All the pieces have a running theme of being trapped).

“Hello Kitty Television”
Based on the book ‘Ham on Rye’ about an abused boy. It’s construction is ‘rough’ of a human form.

Jen Frost Smith: “I don’t want the viewer to feel like they are in the space. Maybe more of a voyeur.”

There is an issue of being in the space because there are no boundaries set-up-in one direction could create the audience a situation where they themselves are trapped, or that they become voyeurs.
