Middle East Baltimore - Part 3
Date unknown
Thinking from the previous critique, that with the large amount of images he is thinking of putting it into a book. There isn’t technically enough wallspace, so he is deciding to fit (x5) 30″ x 40″ prints and to include a book that combines the research along with the images.
Critique:
Timothy Druckrey: A recommendation because of the literal appearance of the older editions of magazines. There was another project called “Pittsburgh”; that was spearheaded by a photographer who took 40,000 images of the city and couldn’t figure out how to show-case it ever. Recommendation is to make a multi-exhibition and not to try and condense it. Try not to overwhelm everyone with the details.
Jen Frost Smith: You don’t want to sabotage your respect for these buildings by rushing their presentation.
Timothy Druckrey: The detail is the most important aspect of the photos. To show them in a series as posted one-by-one in the space would handicap the entire project. William Henry Jackson took images of the West and is famous for his 20″x40″ glass plates of the American West and has printed books that march the size of the negatives.
